The International School of Louisiana is a tuition-free public charter school in New Orleans, Louisiana, offering kindergarten through eighth grade with immersion in French or Spanish. Founded in 2000 to serve students statewide, it pursues a rigorous program designed to cultivate international awareness, celebrate diversity, and foster community responsibility. It is described as the only public school of its kind in the United States, integrating multilingual immersion with a focus on global readiness. The school began with two kindergarten classes (one in French and one in Spanish) and gradually expanded to a complete K–8 program by 2008. In February 2026, ISL formed a strategic partnership with The Achievement Network, and the Uptown campus recorded about a 30% increase in math scores.
