The International Skating Union (ISU) is the exclusive international federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee, responsible for governing and promoting ice-sport disciplines. It administers Long Track and Short Track Speed Skating within the Speed Skating Branch, alongside Single & Pair Skating, Ice Dance, and Synchronized Skating within the Figure Skating Branch. ISU Members are national associations that manage these sports at the national level, with international matters falling under the ISU's sole jurisdiction. The ISU Council, the federation's governing body between Congresses, sets policy, coordinates the organization, and approves championships and other events. Founded in 1892 and based in Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland, the ISU aims to broaden interest and participation across its disciplines. In 2026, the organization announced a competitive tender to identify partners to drive the global commercial exploitation of ISU competition rights.
