The International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) is a nonprofit international professional membership organization focused on the science of pharmacoepidemiology. Based in Bethesda, Maryland, the society aims to advance public health by providing a neutral forum for the open exchange of scientific information and for the development of policy, education, and advocacy related to drug safety, use, and effectiveness. Its members come from academia, industry, government, and nonprofit or private organizations, reflecting diverse disciplines such as epidemiology, biostatistics, medicine, pharmacology, health economics, and law. Through international reach—members in 53 countries and national chapters in Argentina, Belgium, Denmark, and the Netherlands—ISPE supports the dissemination of scientific approaches to studying how medicines are developed, delivered, used, and evaluated. 

One notable activity in recent years has been collaboration with the Reagan-Udall Foundation to develop The COVID-19 Real-World Evidence Primer, underscoring ISPE's engagement with real-world data and evidence in decision making. ISPE positions itself within the research services sector as a professional forum that fosters interdisciplinary dialogue and education on pharmacovigilance, drug utilization research, comparative effectiveness research, and therapeutic risk management.
