Founded in 1998 in response to the World Health Organization’s efforts to eliminate blinding trachoma by 2020, the International Trachoma Initiative coordinates international actions to support this goal. A concrete development highlighted in its history is the 2017 launch of the Zithromax Shipment Tracker, a tool to monitor the delivery of donated antibiotics as part of the program.
