Jackson Health System is a nonprofit, academic medical system based in Miami, Florida, and is regarded as one of the largest public health systems in the United States. Its core aim is to deliver a consistent standard of high-quality care to residents of Miami-Dade County, anchored by Jackson Memorial Hospital, which includes the Ryder Trauma Center and the Miami Transplant Institute. The network encompasses Holtz Children's Hospital and The Women's Hospital at Jackson Memorial, Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital, a rehabilitation center, the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Memorial, plus Jackson North, South, and West Medical Centers, along with numerous primary and specialty care facilities, urgent-care networks, physician practices, long-term care facilities, and mental health facilities. As the primary teaching hospital for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, the system draws on academic science and clinical expertise to advance patient care. In spring 2026, Jackson Memorial Hospital opened a reimagined emergency department, marking a concrete expansion aimed at improving access and speed of emergency services for the community.
