Jacobus Energy traces its roots to 1919, when Wauwatosa Fuel & Supply Company served the Milwaukee area under C.C. Jacobus and his son Delwin. The business broadened from coal handling into hauling cement and coal in the 1930s, and by the 1940s it supplied retail and wholesale coal, coke, petroleum products, wood and wood fuels, alongside construction materials used in postwar building. As Milwaukee’s suburbs grew in the 1950s, the firm extended oil delivery services to homes without gas lines, aligning with the demand for oil-fired heating. Under Delwin's successor, Charles D. Jacobus, Sr., the company continued its growth in the 1960s and 70s, acquiring more than twenty heating oil businesses in the 1970s. In the 1980s it pursued new markets and services, and in 1986 launched the first automated fueling site for commercial vehicles, a development that led to the Quick Fuel fleet services brand. Today, the organization operates in the United States' oil and gas sector, and through Quick Fuel Fleet Services serves commercial fleets and heating oil customers across the Midwest and Southern states, reflecting its long-standing specialization in commercial fueling.
