Föreningen JAG is a national non-profit association in Sweden for people with multiple substantial disabilities, including intellectual impairment. It champions equal civil rights and responsibilities for its members, ensuring that children can grow up within their families and adults can choose where and with whom they live. Through personal assistance, members can live on their own terms and participate in social life with family and friends. The organization operates under a guiding framework that emphasizes equality, tailored assistance, and belonging. It aims to enable members to live in community with their families on their own terms and to access stimulating experiences in a safe environment, while supporting physical and mental health and other interests. A central belief is that all people have equal value and the capacity for self-determination when they have appropriate communication aids and responsive support from others; achieving self-determination for members who require advocacy is provided by a legal representative, such as a parent or guardian for minors or a guardian or administrator for adults.
