The Japanese American Veterans Association (JAVA) is a 501(c)(19) nonprofit and professional organization with global members and friends, based in Bethesda, Maryland. It aims to provide assistance to member veterans and their spouses, caregivers, and dependents, and to perpetuate the memory of Japanese American (Nisei) veterans and their families. JAVA conducts educational programs to highlight the contributions of AANHPI war veterans and hosts speeches and discussion panels for civic, religious, political, and educational groups. It also sponsors social and recreational activities aligned with national holidays, supports patriotism and national pride for future generations of Japanese ancestry, and provides financial assistance and scholarships for descendants of Japanese American veterans. The organization liaises with other veterans' groups, including the Military Intelligence Service, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, and the 100th Infantry Battalion, and is led by Executive Director Ms. Antoinette Phelps.
