Jeff Industries is dedicated to creating research-driven, life-improvement services for persons and their families who experience the effects of chronic mental illnesses and those with coexisting disorders, as well as at-risk youth and families. In 1983, Jeff Industries was formed by the parents of a young man named "Jeff', who was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He was placed in a State Mental Facility and, after seven years, he was released to his parents' home with no community support. Jeff sadly committed suicide. The note he left behind said "I had no reason to wake up". Jeff Industries was incorporated to fill a need for meaningful community-based programs that assist persons with mental illnesses in the transition from hospital to the community. Jeff Industries helps persons with chronic mental illnesses and at-risk youth/families have a reason to LIVE independently, LEARN coping and work skills and WORK in their respective communities. The agency offers a continuum of social, networking, and educational activities, hands-on vocational training, competitive job placement services and transitional/affordable housing.
