I teach coaches and leaders how to coach in a way that actually works. After nearly two decades studying why traditional coaching fails and what creates real, lasting change, I developed an approach grounded in neuroscience, psychology, and communication research. This work challenges the advice-giving, problem-solving, and fixing that passes for coaching in most organizations. In its place, it emphasizes powerful questioning and deep listening that help people think for themselves. The result is coaching that sparks ownership, insight, and meaningful action without relying on pressure, persuasion, or willpower. What I do • Teach the method: Workshops, keynotes, and training for leaders, managers, and coaches • Write about it: Author of Make Them Think: How to Coach for Ownership, Insight, and Action (January 2026) • Practice it: Selective one-to-one coaching for executives and competitive athletes Background Research Fellow at UNC Chapel Hill with a focus on communication, collaboration, and influence. Certified by the International Coach Federation, the NeuroLeadership Institute, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and the Road Runners Club of America. Former Senior Consultant at Gallup, Executive Coach at Kaplan DeVries, and SVP of Coaching at Rewire. The mental barriers that limit performance at work, in leadership, and in life are the same ones that surface under physical strain, whether in a boardroom or at mile 20 of a marathon. My work helps people separate signal from noise so they can respond with clarity, confidence, and intention. This shifts not only performance, but the relationship people have with challenge itself.
