JMS Builders/Developers, Inc. is a construction company based in Buchanan, Virginia, founded in 1978 by John Surprenant. The firm began as a small operation focused on remodeling and commercial cedar roof installations, gradually expanding to include custom homes and tract housing, and later diversifying into a range of building projects. Over more than three decades, JMS built a reputation for reliability through word-of-mouth, emphasizing work quality and presenting prospective clients with examples from previous sites. In 2011 the company expanded its scope by partnering with Kissito Healthcare leadership to serve as prime contractor for healthcare facilities across multiple regions, reflecting a capacity to manage diverse projects from residential to institutional developments. The current scope places JMS within the construction industry, operating from Virginia with a history of adapting to changing market needs while pursuing continued diversification.
