Junior Achievement (JA) is America’s largest and fastest growing nonprofit committed to helping students overcome systemic barriers and own their economic success. Through financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship, JA equips young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate their futures in a rapidly evolving economy. In partnership with educators, volunteers, and the business community, JA brings real-world learning into the classroom. Its hands-on K–12 programs connect what students learn in school to real-life opportunities, helping them see what’s possible and how to get there. JA programs are delivered by dedicated volunteers from across industries who share their lived experiences and professional insights, making learning relevant, engaging, and impactful. Junior Achievement of Southwest New England was founded in 1951 in Hartford and now serves students across seven Connecticut counties. Each year, thousands of volunteers help JA reach tens of thousands of students, expanding access to opportunity and strengthening the future workforce.
