The Justice Information Resource Network (JIRN), formerly the Justice Research & Statistics Association (JRSA), is a nonprofit organization that serves state justice researchers and statistical analysis centers, focusing on using data and research to inform policy and practice in the states\' criminal justice systems. It originated in 1974 when state Statistical Analysis Centers formed the network and continues to strengthen analytical capacity within those agencies. JIRN collaborates with the Bureau of Justice Statistics and other federal agencies to promote the use of criminal and juvenile justice information and to facilitate interaction between states and the federal government. Based in Washington, D.C., the organization is a small nonprofit that provides training and technical assistance to support the State Justice Statistics Program for Statistical Analysis Centers. Through collaboration with its members, JIRN conducts multi-state, policy-relevant research on topics such as the use of state criminal history records, incident-based reporting data, and probation and parole revocations for new offenses and technical violations.
