It is owned by 17 member distribution cooperatives spanning northeast Oklahoma and southwest Missouri, and it provides power supply resources to them. As one of six G&T utilities that own Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AECI), KAMO participates in a regional network that ensures generation and transmission capacity for its members.

The cooperative operates on a not-for-profit basis and delivers more than 7.0 million megawatt-hours annually to about 300,000 member-owners. In May 2025, KAMO announced partnerships with BlueAlly Technology Solutions and Infinera Corporation to strengthen its regional transmission network.
