Kanad Hospital, based in Al Ain in the Abu Dhabi region of the United Arab Emirates, is a not-for-profit health care provider with a long-standing focus on obstetric and pediatric care. Its founding in 1960 by Doctors Pat and Mariam Kennedy occurred at the request of HH Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, with the aim of delivering compassionate healthcare in the region. The hospital is recognized as a leading provider for women and children in the Middle East and is noted as the birthplace of national leaders, including HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Kanad was the first hospital established in the Abu Dhabi Emirate and the first private facility in the Emirate to achieve JCI accreditation, further exemplified by its JCI Clinical Care Program Certifications for newborn respiratory distress syndrome and for natural birth after cesarean. Its not-for-profit model is aligned with Christian-inspired values emphasizing Love, Integrity, Serving others, Courage, and Excellence in Care, and recent steps include a memorandum of understanding with Children's National Hospital announced in October 2024 to advance pediatric care.
