KCMBA: The Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) is the largest and oldest bar association in the Kansas City area. Founded in 1884, KCMBA draws on its long-standing tradition to provide current, innovative, and relevant service to its 5,000 members across a nine-county service territory in Missouri and Kansas. Its mission is to serve its members and community by promoting justice, professional excellence, and respect for the law. KCMBF: Founded in 1979, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation (KCMBF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the charitable arm of KCMBA. Its mission is to serve the community by creating and supporting public service and educational programs that promote the administration of justice, access to legal services, professional development, and respect for the law through the Alliance Against Domestic Violence, Military Matters, and Student Law Academy. The Alliance Against Domestic Violence, KCMBF’s longest-standing program, has educated more than 2,950 professionals over 28 years who work collaboratively to address the complex challenges of domestic violence. Military Matters provides free legal services to veterans and active-duty service members by connecting them with KCMBA volunteer attorneys through partner referrals and a case-matching system, resulting in thousands of pro bono hours and millions in donated legal services. The Student Law Academy builds a diverse pipeline into the legal profession by providing underserved students with paid internships, mentoring, and long-term academic and career support from high school through law school and into practice.
