Karwa Motors is a joint venture established to build a bus assembly plant in Duqm, Oman, with Mowasalat Qatar holding 70% and the Oman Investment Fund 30%. The facility is designed for welding, painting, and final assembly, initially producing about 1,000 buses per year and scalable to 3,000 as demand grows. It sits on a 220,000-square-meter site near a developing multipurpose port, positioning the plant to serve regional demand for various bus types, including city, school, coach, and work-transport vehicles, aligned with European standards and local requirements. Operating in the motor vehicle manufacturing industry, Karwa Motors aims to bolster Oman’s automotive sector and develop local technical capability through its manufacturing operations. The Majan Project envisaged fast-track development with first production by the second quarter of 2020. A notable recent development is a strategic partnership with Daimler Truck North America to produce Mercedes-Benz bus chassis at the Duqm facility, announced in October 2025.
