Kauai Humane Society has been supporting pets and their owners on the island of Kauai since 1952. We work tirelessly to make sure all pets on our island have loving homes. We regularly care for 200-220 animals at our Puhi shelter while they wait to be reunited with their families or wait to be matched with new, loving homes. We serve our community by providing a safe place for pet animals who have no where else to go. We have a robust adoption program, volunteer opportunities -- including animal fostering, spay/neuter as well as vaccine & microchip services, and education on responsible pet ownership. We host critter camps for young animal lovers, and we run a very popular field trip program which allows island residents and visitors to take a dog out for the day! KHS contracts with the county of Kauai to provide targeted animal control for the island. This primarily includes the care of stray dogs and cats as well as animal cruelty investigations. KHS is also home to the Save our Shearwaters program which rehabilitates and releases native Hawaiian birds.
