Kent County Emergency Medical Services (KCEMS) is a quasi-governmental regulatory agency designated by the State of Michigan as the Medical Control Authority (MCA) responsible for EMS system oversight in Kent County and Wright, Tallmadge and Chester Townships in Ottawa County. Our EMS system includes 3 ground ambulance services and 1 air ambulance services that all operate at an advanced live support level. There are 32 medical first response agencies that operated at basic life support level and most are fire department based. They are dispatched from 2 linked 9-1-1 communications centers. We have 5 hospitals, 6 emergency departments, a Level I and II trauma center, and 3 cardiac cath labs. These resources serve a community of just over 600,000 residents.
