Kentucky Opera is a Louisville-based professional performing arts company that presents a full season of locally produced, world-class opera. It is distinguished as Kentucky’s only professional opera company and aims to foster discovery, joy, and connection through the shared experience of opera across the Commonwealth. The company provides extensive programming beyond the stage for adults, youth, families, and classrooms, reaching into community centers, senior living facilities, libraries, and schools. 

Its work targets communities throughout Kentucky, delivering education and outreach that complements its main productions. Within the performing arts sector, the organization combines stage productions with ongoing community engagement in a lean, regional operation. In late 2025, Kentucky Opera appointed Ben Robinson as General Director and CEO, effective November 11, 2025.
