The Kentucky Primary Care Association is a nonprofit organization based in Frankfort, Kentucky, established in 1976 to improve access to primary health care for underserved rural and urban populations. It functions as a coalition for community health centers, rural health clinics, licensed primary care centers, and related groups, coordinating efforts to strengthen Kentucky’s primary care system. Its membership includes a wide range of primary care providers—physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, behavioral health professionals, dental providers, and others delivering whole-person care. The association engages with federal, state and local policymakers, regulatory bodies, health policy organizations, foundations, and payors to promote comprehensive, community-focused primary care services for underserved communities. In February 2026, KPCA launched an updated Letter of Support request system intended to provide clearer guidance and a more transparent, streamlined process for members and partners. As a smaller nonprofit within the hospitals and health care sector, the organization supports the development of primary care access across Kentucky.
