THE BEAD INITIATIVE – A BRIGHT IDEA!

VISION
Simple, low-cost road safety programs could improve millions of lives across the developing world. We must focus on protecting the most vulnerable road users, kids who are usually also the poorest people with least access to a flashlight or reflective material.

PROBLEM
Road traffic killed more 5 to 14 year-olds than malaria and HIV and around 1.3 million people die from road traffic accidents each year. With up to 50 million more injured or permanently disabled. 90% of these deaths and injuries occur in developing countries -at a direct cost of $65 billion each year, -more than all foreign aid combined.

MISSION
Reducing the number of dead and injured children in traffic with more than 20% for each year in each country KNPO work in.

ACTIVITY
Kids Non-Profit Organization (KNPO) is a Trust engaged in relief work among the needy children and youth in Africa with road safety education, training of the teachers and the free distribution of traffic safety equipment, to reduce deaths and injuries on the roads.

The SIM Initiative - By using existing SIM cards we recycle plastic into safety reflectors and save lives.
The Bead Initiative - Our strategy is to distribute reflective beads to children in developing countries.
