Kortec three layer technology can be used for barrier thin wall shelf-stable food packaging applications. Utilizing PP and EVOH as the barrier layer, the resulting containers are suitable for retort processing. Initial commercial systems came on-line in Europe and USA during 2010. Shelf-life of over 2 years is achievable. The Kortec technology offers a high quality container at a lower cost than traditional packaging. Target markets are pet foods, fruits, coffee, baby foods, vegetables, fish, etc
.
Kortec’s three-layer preform technology combines PET or OPP with the latest barrier and oxygen scavenging resins.  The finished multilayer container can offer far superior gas barrier performance over a monolayer container, thus providing superior shelf life of the product.  Typical applications that benefit from this process are tea and natural fruit juices, tomato-based sauces, carbonated soft drinks, and beer.
