Köln Bonn Airport serves both passenger traffic and air cargo, functioning as a key node in Germany's aviation network. In 2022, it handled about 8.8 million passengers and offered more than 120 destinations across Europe and beyond. The airport also acts as a major logistics hub for North Rhine-Westphalia, handling around 971,000 tonnes of cargo in 2022 and serving as a hub for UPS, FedEx, and DHL—the only site in Germany used by all three.
