Labor Berlin, founded in 2011, operates Europe’s largest hospital laboratory. It serves as a bridge between scientific research, patient care, and industry, delivering diagnostic capabilities to Charité and Vivantes while expanding access to other clinics and senders. As the first joint subsidiary of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Vivantes – Netzwerk für Gesundheit, it consolidates university‑level medicine with a broad diagnostic offering. Based in Berlin, the organization runs 13 presence laboratories plus a central laboratory on Sylter Straße, with administrative functions, to support all Charité and Vivantes sites and more than 24,000 hospital beds. Through a network with nationwide partners, Labor Berlin extends its laboratory services beyond the capital to reach additional clinics and patients. In 2022, it announced collaborations with Roche Deutschland Holding and with Sarstedt to advance automation of processes from sample arrival.
