Since 1938, LACERA has been fulfilling its mission to produce, protect, and provide the promised benefits to the employees of Los Angeles County and participating agencies. As the largest County retirement system in the United States, we serve more than 198,000 members and survivors. At LACERA, we are dedicated to delivering comprehensive retirement plans, retiree healthcare, and related services to our members and their families. We prudently manage and invest $87 billion in pension funds and post-employment benefit trusts through industry-leading practices, strategies, expertise, and technological applications. We also understand the importance of advocating on behalf of our members to preserve their retirement benefits with public stakeholders and at all levels of government. LACERA is governed by two boards, each composed of elected and appointed members and one ex-officio member. The Board of Retirement is responsible for the overall management of the retirement system and the LACERA-administered Retiree Healthcare Benefits Program. The Board of Investments is responsible for establishing LACERA’s investment policies, strategies, and objectives, as well as exercising authority and control over the investment management of the fund and actuarial matters relating to setting of contributions and estimation of fund liabilities. We remain committed to serving the hard-working people who serve the County of Los Angeles. Through thoughtful governance, strategic planning, and a member-first mindset, we work every day to protect the future of our members for generations to come.
