Laketran is the regional public transit system for Lake County, Ohio, based in Painesville, offering local bus service, Dial-a-Ride, and Park-n-Ride access to Cleveland. The system serves more than 500,000 riders annually. It collaborates with Lakeland Community College, Lake Erie College, and several Lake County high schools to allow students to ride Routes 1–9 at no cost, with Cleveland-based college students receiving a reduced Park-n-Ride fare. Dial-a-Ride is a shared-ride service primarily used by seniors and people with disabilities, with discounted fares for seniors, veterans, Medicaid-approved trips, students with disabilities, and residents of some municipalities; trips can be booked online or by calling 440-354-6100. Park-n-Ride operates 17 daily trips into Cleveland from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and returns to Lake County from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., serving workers, students, and visitors downtown. In May 2026 Laketran appointed Daniel Curtis Crowder to its Board of Trustees.
