Lan Su Chinese Garden is a cultural site in Portland, Oregon that functions as a garden and educational venue, presenting Chinese cultural traditions through a blend of art, history, architecture, design, and nature. It runs more than 500 cultural and botanical programs annually, providing access to Chinese cultural experiences and supporting Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. The garden opened in September 2000 as a collaborative project between the City of Portland and Suzhou, built by artisans from Suzhou, and is regarded as one of the most authentic Chinese gardens outside China. The garden's name reflects its cross-city partnership: Lan Su combines sounds from Portland and Suzhou and can be read poetically as Garden of Awakening Orchids. In recent years, Lan Su has continued programming and events, including a 2026 series of celebrations beginning February 17, featuring ceremonies and performances.
