The Lancaster City Police Bureau is the municipal law enforcement agency for the city of Lancaster in Pennsylvania. It is based at 39 West Chestnut Street and provides core police services and public safety functions to the community. In March 2026, the department launched a Drone as a First Responder program to augment its operations. Led by Chief Richard Mendez, appointed in 2022 as the city’s first Hispanic Chief, the bureau, as of 2023, oversees about 145 sworn officers and 55 civilian employees. The bureau has pursued collaboration with community partners, such as a coordinated ride-along program with Blueprints for Addiction Recovery (Second Chance PA) to connect residents with addiction and mental health diversion resources.
