Landcare Australia is an independent, national not-for-profit organization in the environmental services sector, dedicated to empowering Australians to care for the land and water that sustain them. For over 35 years, it has connected communities and organizations to environmental conservation and sustainable land management, supporting efforts to protect land, water, soils, plants, animals and ecosystems. The group assists individuals, groups and organizations involved in landcare through funding, on-ground project delivery, capacity-building, information sharing, networking, and communications, and it oversees large-scale restoration initiatives such as the Landcare CarbonSMART program. Based in Chatswood, New South Wales, Landcare Australia operates nationwide as a not-for-profit that brings people from diverse backgrounds together to contribute to environmental stewardship. In April 2026, Peter Garrett AM was appointed chair of the Landcare Australia board, succeeding Doug Humann AM after nine years.
