LandStudies, a Davey Tree Company, is a design-build ecological restoration firm founded in 1989. We believe by properly restoring and managing our valuable natural resources, we improve their function and sustainably maximize their economic potential. We’ve assisted clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, specifically focusing on water resource issues and challenges facing the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Our diverse and talented staff can provide a range of services related to the interaction of land and water systems, and are well equipped to deliver unique and innovative solutions to environmental issues. As lifelong learners, we anchor our approach in both qualitative and quantitative research, staying at the forefront of new discoveries. Extensive time in the field analyzing water resources continually increases our ability to adapt to unique challenges. As a design-build company, we boast an ecological construction division comprised of experienced construction managers and crew members who provide the licensure, materials, personnel and skills necessary to produce quality naturalized landscapes. We also offer monitoring and maintenance services to ensure that our projects continue to be successful after construction. LandStudies’ work results in a symbiotic relationship between the environment and economics, also known as Economic Ecology. A restored ecosystem results in better water quality, reduced flooding, and an overall healthier environment. Consequently, municipalities flourish, businesses thrive, and individuals enjoy a greater sense of health and well-being. LandStudies became part of Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey Tree Expert Company, in 2025. For more than 30 years WSSI has provided exceptional water resources engineering and environmental, regulatory, and cultural resources support for a wide range of projects and crafted innovative solutions at the intersection of infrastructure, development, and environmental protection.
