L'Assurance retraite is a French government administration responsible for organizing and managing the general retirement regime within the Social Security system, operating a network that includes the Caisse nationale, 15 Carsat, four CGSS in overseas territories, and the CSS of Mayotte. The Caisse nationale provides policy directions for retirement and social action, conducts projections of the regime’s financial situation, and supports aging research. In Île-de-France, the network functions as the regional retirement fund, known as Assurance retraite Île-de-France, handling accounts, calculating and paying pensions and social benefits, and promoting prevention of aging in health. Since 1 September 2023, the organisation also covers retirement for new hires at RATP, in the electric and gas industries, at the Banque de France, and for clerks of notaries, in addition to managing supplementary retirement for self-employed workers. The entity is based in Paris (75019, Île-de-France) and employs between 5,001 and 10,000 people.
