Last Mile Health is a nonprofit organization based in Legon, Greater Accra Region, Ghana, focused on saving lives by strengthening community health systems in the world’s most remote areas. It partners with governments to train and deploy professionalized community health workers who deliver essential primary healthcare to rural and hard-to-reach communities. The organization collaborates with Ministries of Health in Ethiopia, Liberia, Malawi, and Sierra Leone and participates in broader efforts to reform community health financing. Founded by survivors of Liberia’s civil war, the organization emphasizes locally led, government-aligned health service delivery. A recent development includes a 2024 training module launched with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health to enable community health workers to screen for, diagnose, refer, treat, and manage common non-communicable diseases at the community level.
