The Latin American Studies Association (LASA) is a professional association and research-focused network dedicated to the study of Latin America. It has over 12,000 members worldwide, with about 60 percent living outside the United States, and it brings together scholars and practitioners from multiple disciplines across the Americas. Each year, LASA hosts the International Congress, a major forum with more than 900 sessions for expert discussion on Latin America and the Caribbean. The organization is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In May 2026, LASA announced the appointment of Yamile Silva as Representative of the Sections.
