Regardless of the reasons that have put someone’s home at risk, or led to them becoming homeless we are here to prevent homelessness and rebuild lives. Homelessness can happen to anyone. It could be a few poor decisions, bad luck, or a change in circumstances. That’s often all it takes to put someone at risk of becoming homeless. There is a real person and a hidden story behind every person who needs our help. And homelessness is complicated. It’s not just about losing a roof from over your head. It’s about losing self-esteem, structure and purpose. Not everyone can draw on a stable upbringing or the support of friends/family to help overcome life’s setbacks. Mental health issues, addiction, losing a job or a relationship breakdown - and a lack of affordable housing - can make people vulnerable to homelessness. We provide three main services: Preventing homelessness. Free, confidential drop-in and support. Available to anyone who needs housing or homelessness-related advice. Sleeping on a friend’s sofa, not sure how to find accommodation, worried about rent, need benefit advice or help with drug or alcohol misuse. We can help prevent a problem becoming a crisis. We support single parents, families, couples and individuals to stay in their own homes and help with landlord issues. We also help find appropriate housing for people in unsuitable accommodation. Housing with support. Our own clean, safe housing combined with individual support is the most effective way to get people back on track. Work and Life skills. At our special centre, we help people get back into work, education & training so they can rebuild their lives. We help with numeracy and literacy, IT skills, job search and managing mental health issues. Our therapeutic activities programme also includes counselling, cooking, gardening and art. Our goal for all classes is the same – to help people to live positive, independent lives.
