The mission of Leadership North Carolina is to inform, develop, and engage committed leaders by broadening their understanding of and involvement in issues and opportunities facing our state. Program sessions give class members a broader understanding of the state, with a focus on issues in the areas of Economic Development, Education, Environment, Government, Health and Human Services, and Inclusive Leadership. Participants learn about the critical issues in these areas through discussions with top officials of the state, professionals in the areas, field trips and experiential activities. The program cultivates a network of citizens with diverse backgrounds and experiences who represent the many geographic areas of the state and who are committed to volunteer service. The program consists of seven, two-day sessions held between October and May in different cities across the state. Open to all citizens of the state, LNC seeks a class of approximately 55 leaders who represent the various geographic regions and communities of the state from the public, private and non-profit sectors. Special effort is made to ensure diversity among class members (race, gender, geography, occupation, stage of career, etc.).
