The League of Kansas Municipalities is a voluntary, nonpartisan association formed by Kansas municipal officials in 1910 to represent its cities. It counts more than 590 municipalities within its membership and operates as a public agency established under state law as an instrumentality of those cities. Its purpose is to strengthen and advocate for the interests of Kansas cities to advance the general welfare and improve residents' quality of life. Based in Topeka, Kansas, the organization maintains a professional staff to support its activities across the state. It functions in the civic and social sector by providing advocacy, guidance, and resources to city leaders, helping municipalities address policy priorities and governance challenges. In 2023, the League expanded its leadership by adding a new member to its Executive Board.
