The League of Professional Theatre Women is a not-for-profit organization focused on increasing the visibility of women and expanding opportunities for female theatre professionals in the professional theatre ecosystem. Based in New York City, it was incorporated in 1986 after early-1980s concerns about the underrepresentation of women in leadership and non-performing roles in both nonprofit and commercial theatre. Its membership encompasses a wide range of theatre practitioners, including actors, designers, administrators, directors, and other allied professions. Operating within the entertainment industry, the league serves as a professional community and advocacy body for women across for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. In November 2023, Luna Stage Company announced a partnership with the League for the Spring Theatre Connections program for the 2020-2021 season.
