The Lean Enterprise Academy is a small not-for-profit organization based in Llandudno, Wales, structured as a company limited by guarantee. It exists to develop knowledge of Lean Thinking and its implementation and to disseminate that knowledge through learning, sharing, teaching, and coaching. The academy organizes Lean Summits only when it has new research findings or lessons from lean pioneers, and it also publishes a range of material each month, including articles, newsletters, presentations, and papers on current lean topics. 

Its audience comprises lean practitioners and organizations seeking to advance their transformations, with content that reflects perspectives from leaders in lean thinking across the world. In October 2020 it launched the Lean Learning Journey, an online platform designed to provide practitioners with practical knowledge for lean transformation, illustrating its role in providing accessible knowledge within the research services landscape.
