The Legal Clinic for the Disabled provides free civil legal services to low-income people with disabilities, and to the deaf and hard of hearing, across Philadelphia and the surrounding counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery in Pennsylvania. Founded in 1987 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, LCD operates from offices at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and offers help with protective orders, identity theft, consumer fraud, healthcare access for children, and drafting wills, powers of attorney, and living wills. Many clients have significant physical limitations or serious illnesses, and the clinic works to remove legal barriers that affect their safety and ability to live independently in their communities. LCD participates in a medical-legal partnership to address health-related legal needs and serves residents of Philadelphia and the adjacent counties who have disabilities and low income. In 2024, the organization announced a leadership transition, naming Theresa Brabson as Executive Director following the retirement of longtime Executive Director Linda Peyton.
