Legal Services of Northern Virginia is a nonprofit law firm providing civil legal assistance to residents across Northern Virginia. Founded in 1980 through the consolidation of several local legal aid organizations, it operates as a 501(c)(3) organization based in Fairfax. It serves the City of Alexandria and the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William, plus nearby municipalities. It focuses on helping elderly, disabled, or low-income individuals protect essential needs such as safety, housing, income, medical benefits, education, and family stability. It provides free legal assistance across a broad spectrum of civil matters, including family and housing, elder law, public benefits, and health care access. Support expands to child advocacy, special education, employment, consumer issues, AIDS/HIV matters, and related areas, alongside specialized programs for veterans, survivors of human trafficking, and crime victims, as well as a criminal re-entry program and a low-income tax clinic. In May 2024, LSNV participated in a collaborative program with Loudoun Cares and other partners to extend outreach in Loudoun County.
