The Leicester Country Club was founded at the end of the Civil War in 1864. Located on the tallest ground between Boston harbor and Connecticut river, the town of Leicester lies 46 miles west from Boston, 6 miles from Worcester and 44 north west from Providence RI. First settled in 1713, the town’s Indian name was “Towlaid”. In 1837, the town’s population was just 2,122.
