lemlem, a B Corp in retail apparel and fashion, is a New York City-based brand that designs women’s resort wear and swimwear produced entirely and responsibly in Africa. It was founded by Liya Kebede, a supermodel and WHO Goodwill Ambassador, in 2007 to preserve Ethiopia’s traditional weaving and to create opportunities for local artisans. The name lemlem means to bloom and flourish in Amharic, signaling its commitment to sustaining an ancient craft while supporting economic growth on the continent. 

Products are distributed through lemlem.com and selected retailers worldwide, with a presence in Kenya for ready-to-wear and in Morocco for swimwear. The lemlem Foundation supports training and job opportunities for women artisans and works to improve access to women’s health services and products. In 2023, Puma announced a collaboration with Lemlem.
