Letterform Archive is a nonprofit library and museum based in San Francisco, California, that centers on calligraphy, lettering, typography, and graphic design. It preserves more than 100,000 artifacts and offers access through exhibitions, hands-on tours, research opportunities, and state-of-the-art publications. Founded in 2015, the organization aims to keep important design objects available to both designers and the wider public, preserving them physically and digitally. Its audience includes designers, students, educators, and other enthusiasts who seek access to overlooked design artifacts. The education program centers on a yearlong certificate in type design and, in 2025, the organization released the Type By series. The archive maintains a global reach through social media, virtual exhibitions, and the Online Archive, with notable designers having donated work to support its mission.
