The Lexington Philharmonic, based in Lexington, Kentucky and founded in 1961, is a mid-sized ensemble that programs concerts and educational activities throughout the year. It presents more than 200 performances annually, including a season of eight classical concerts featuring world-class guest artists. The organization aims to foster excellence and innovation in music, enrich a diverse community, and educate current and future audiences. Its education efforts reach over 25,000 children yearly through Discovery Concerts, Ensembles in Schools, Instrument Petting Zoos, Conductor in the Classroom, and Peanut Butter & Jelly Concerts. Inside the Score, a series of free pre-concert lectures, gives patrons additional context for the evening's program. In 2025, longtime concertmaster Daniel Mason retired after 43 years with the orchestra and was named Concertmaster Emeritus.
