LIBERTÉ was founded in 1936 by Russian immigrants who wished to obtain kosher dairy products to the Jewish community of Montreal . The company was located at the corner of St -Urbain and Duluth , near Downtown Montreal . The company subsequently moved to Brossard in 1964. In 1971 , the company was bought and the new owner diversified product range already consists of cottage, cream cheese and sour cream , adding yogurt . We kept the traditional and artisanal dimension of our production while taking expansion. Gradually, before the craze of customers for these products, we develop more and more ranges while maintaining our values of quality and purity. Since December 2010, LIBERTÉ is part of the YOPLAIT group , world leader in the processing of fresh milk products. YOPLAIT group sold 51 % in July 2011 at the American multinational General Mills which is headquartered in Golden Valley, Minnesota. General Mills holds the position of the 6th World Food Group and has more than 100 brands, including Cheerios , Old El Paso and Green Giant . The LIBERTÉ Head Office is currently based in St-Hubert. We also have two plants based in St-Hyacinthe and Brisbane. Our products are place in our warehouses of St-Hubert and Brampton.
