The Life & Peace Institute (LPI) is an international, ecumenical research and action center focused on nonviolent approaches to conflict transformation. It advances its mission by conducting research and supporting local capacities to establish preconditions for peace, with activities spanning several regions in Africa, including the Horn of Africa, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, and the Great Lakes area such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Based in Uppsala, Sweden, LPI operates within the research services sector and collaborates with a range of local and regional partners to address peacebuilding, social cohesion, and governance challenges. The organization has been active since 1985 and works to foster peaceful, just, and nonviolent relations through sustained community engagement and joint initiatives.
