Lifeline Skin Care, Inc. operates in the personal care product manufacturing sector, developing, manufacturing, and marketing cosmetic products that leverage peptides derived from the company’s human non-embryonic stem cells and proprietary targeted molecule technology. Based in Carlsbad, California, Lifeline is a wholly owned subsidiary of International Stem Cell Corporation, a publicly traded biotech company formed in 2009, and maintains a focused, small-scale operation. The company targets consumers seeking cosmetic products informed by stem cell–related science, delivering products that address skin care needs through its peptide-based formulations. Lifeline is positioned within a competitive landscape of established skin care brands and specialist cosmetic manufacturers, with its activities connected to broader biotechnology interests via its parent company. In April 2014, Lifeline announced an expansion of its offices into the United States, reflecting growth in its geographic footprint.
