Lindauer DORNIER GmbH is an internationally active mechanical and plant engineering company with around 1,000 employees. Founded in 1950 by Peter Dornier, son of aviation pioneer Claude Dornier, the medium-sized family business with its three product lines - weaving machines, film stretching lines and composite systems - is today one of the global technology and market leaders.

Customers from the textile and clothing industry use DORNIER air-jet and rapier weaving machines to produce fabrics for clothing, home textiles and technical textiles, including suits, wallpaper, firefighter clothing, airbags, tire cord, parachutes and filters. DORNIER is the world market leader in systems for the production of biaxially oriented polyester film (BOPET). These films are used in the packaging industry, particularly for food (including flexible packaging), pharmaceuticals and household products, as well as in solar cells, lithium-ion batteries, semiconductors, capacitors and in devices such as smartphones, smart TVs and tablets.

In the Composite Systems (CS) division, DORNIER bundles its decades of experience in the construction of weaving machines and film stretching systems. With the machines and systems developed and built in CS, including the P2 roving weaving machine, the TRITOS® 3D weaving machine and the PROTOS® tape production line and tape weaving machine, DORNIER enables companies to achieve scalable and robust series production of technical textiles, composites and composite materials.

All DORNIER machines and lines are “Made in Germany” and are developed, designed and built at the production sites in Lindau (headquarters) and Esseratsweiler. To ensure optimum local support, DORNIER has its own subsidiaries in the USA, China, India and Turkey. These subsidiaries enable us to be there for our customers directly in the most important markets worldwide.
