Literacy First, formerly ACE: A Community for Education, are literacy experts who work tenaciously to give children a strong start in school. Children reading successfully by third grade is our focus. Our core values are that literacy should be the number one educational priority for children and that reading skills should be cemented as early as possible in a child’s education.

We hire 100 AmeriCorps members every year to serve in low-income schools in the Austin area. Go to literacyfirst.org to learn more about our program.
